Trail ride 2025

On September 14, 2025, the Neuchâtel Recreational Riders' Trail Ride took place. Around 100 horse-rider pairs set off through the picturesque course, which led through forests and meadows. This year's event was themed "Fairy Tales," and many participants even appeared in imaginative costumes. The day began with glorious weather, but a sudden thunderstorm in the early afternoon unfortunately forced us to send all participants to the finish line as quickly as possible. Fortunately, no one was hurt!

We captured this special day for you in pictures:

Start & 1st section

Marisa and Heidi welcomed participants at the start again this year. They gave the participants a final briefing before they set off on the approximately 20-kilometer course.

At the edge of the forest, the participants were greeted by a sign reading "Once upon a time in Fuhrenkamp" - which made it clear that this year's theme was fairy tales.

First, however, the participants took a leisurely stroll through a small patch of forest, at the end of which a scene from "Hansel and Gretel" awaited them. Then they continued past fields and over Kochs Damm to the first game.

Game 1 & 2. Section

In the first game, which was based on the fairy tale "The Frog Prince," the participants had to fish the golden ball out of the well with Petra, Mirjam, and Sandra.

The path continued along a small, overgrown path. Here, our "Snow White" was fast asleep. To see your reactions, we also positioned our "horse speed camera" (wildlife camera) at this spot.

Afterwards, we continued a short distance up to Lake Lengen. The route then led us along a beautiful sandy path to a well-deserved breakfast break.

Break & 3rd section

Amanda, Julia, and Nina welcomed everyone again during the break. They provided everyone with freshly baked sandwiches and a variety of drinks.

And this break was also necessary to gather strength for the next stage of the course. After the break, the large field awaited our participants.

Afterwards, our participants continued back and forth through the forest until the next stop.

Game 2 & 4th section

In the game "Set the Table," Katja, Susanne, and Alex wanted to see who could juggle cutlery and plates best. The groups found many different and effective solutions to this task and had a lot of fun.

After the table was set for dinner, we sent the participants on their way through the forest. Over hill and a little dale, they reached the grassy track by the military fence. Here, both animals and humans could really let off some steam before the next and final game.

Game 3 & Goal

For the last game, Jelka and Dominik, along with the "seven dwarves," were waiting for our participants. Here, the goal was to throw rings over the skittles disguised as dwarves. Here, too, we saw many different approaches – but no matter what, the main thing is that it's fun!

Unfortunately, after this game, we had to send all participants straight to the finish line at around 2 p.m. The weather suddenly took a turn for the worse, and a powerful thunderstorm rolled in...

Background stories

Of course, a lot has happened in between and before, which we don’t want to withhold from you:

So this year we were able to welcome a special guest. Mayor Olaf Oetken wanted to see what we were up to. Unfortunately, we girls were all out and about at the time, but Jürgen represented us well.

This year, we also prepared a little surprise for our "breakfast ladies," Nina and Amanda. As a thank you for their long-standing loyalty, we gave them both a gift certificate.

And our Jürgen also deserves a big thank you. He was our cleanup crew. He drove the entire route on his quad bike, cleaned up the horses' droppings, and even dismantled a few things here and there so we could have a little more time for our participants.

In the gallery you can also see pictures of the setup, the day before the ride and our ride from June.

And as always, here is the video of this year’s ride:
